Definition and Properties of Electric Melting Magnesium:

Fused magnesium, also known as sintered magnesium sand, is obtained by high-temperature calcination of magnesite, magnesite ore, or magnesium hydroxide extracted from seawater. It has strong resistance to hydration. 97 electric melting magnesium sand refers to the products obtained by high-temperature treatment of magnesite and other magnesium raw materials to achieve sintering. It can be produced through one-step or two-step calcination processes using high-temperature equipment such as vertical kilns or rotary kilns. Magnesium sand produced by firing natural magnesite as raw material is called sintered magnesium sand; magnesium sand formed by melting magnesite and other materials in an electric arc furnace and then cooled is called electric melting magnesium sand; magnesium sand extracted from seawater and processed into magnesium oxide is called seawater magnesium sand. 


Magnesium sand is one of the most important raw materials for refractory materials and is used to manufacture various types of magnesia bricks, magnesia-alumina bricks, ramming materials, and furnace repair materials. Magnesium sand with high impurity content is used for lining steelmaking furnace bottoms, etc.

High-purity magnesium sand is made by selecting natural special-grade magnesite ore, flotation purification, light calcination, fine grinding, pelletizing, and high-temperature oil vertical kiln calcination. It is a high-quality raw material for brick making and non-specific refractory materials. Medium-grade magnesium sand is produced using light-calcined magnesium oxide with a MgO content of 97% as raw material, through processes such as pelletizing and high-temperature vertical kiln calcination.The product has good sintering degree and dense crystalline structure, making it a high-quality raw material for producing medium-grade magnesia refractory products.Electric melting magnesium is made by melting selected special grade natural magnesite or high-purity light-calcined magnesium particles in an electric arc furnace. The product has high purity, large crystal grains ,dense structure, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock stability, and is an excellent high-temperature electrical insulation material. It is also an important raw material for manufacturing high-grade magnesia bricks, magnesia-carbon bricks, and unshaped refractory materials.
